Future Headline: 4th Place MVP Miguel Cabrera Drops Entire $200k Bonus On Bar Tab
American League MVP was announced today and to nobody’s surprise it went to Joe Mauer. He received 27 out of the 28 first place votes and blew out the competition with 387 total points. Yankees Teixeira and Jeter finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The first thing he's going to buy with that bonus is some nail clippers for the old lady.
The real intrigue comes with Miguel Cabrera finishing in 4th place one point above the Angels Kendry Morales. Miggy received this one point victory by virtue of stealing the only non-Mauer first place ballot. Who the hell would vote for him over Joe? Keizo Konishi of Kyodo News, that’s who. Why? Well, that’s between him and his therapist.
The thing I find to be most interesting however is the $200k bonus that the big, sweaty, drunk, occasional scratching post Cabrera will receive for his 4th place finish. That’s double the $100k that Joe Mauer will be collecting for winning the damned thing.
Well, congratulations bar tenders all around the greater Detroit area. Also to the ones in Chicago next time he’s in town bar hopping with his White Sox buddies. We all know who will be picking up that bar tab.
