New Hero: Randy Moller
That is how you get pink eye!
Forgive me if I’m late to this party, since I am neither a hockey fan nor unlucky enough to ever watch the Florida Panthers lace up the skates. But I’m sitting in my office all day laughing my ass off listening to Randy Moller scream his crazy calls for Panther goals.
Randy has been doing play-by-play on the radio for the Florida Panthers for the past 10 years and before recently I think his biggest claim to fame would have been as a player having his picture on the cover of NHLPA Hockey ‘93. (Side note: why is hockey the best video game sport? I don’t know, but it’s true.) I think the lack of good hockey to watch forced him to get creative. Now he spends his nights screaming out calls when a goal is scored peppered with quotes from 30 Rock, Predator, hip hop songs, 40 Year Old Virgin, or anything else from pop culture.
Randy seemingly has a new non sequitur for each goal so lucky for him they don’t score very often down in Miami. He gets suggestions from The Dan Le Betard show listeners for new drops to throw in. This guy is hilarious and I just feel like everybody should be familiar with his stuff, so I put together the first 3 compilations that I found. There are probably many better ones, so feel free to link them in the comments section to share the love!
