Monday Best Bets

I'm not sure what model of car would be big enough for this elephant to find "Paradise By The Dashboard Lights".

The Cubs bats are hot.  That will teach me to think that the wind assisted scoring would stop some day.  All in all a good day at the window, pulling another Meat Loaf and taking 2 out of 3.  Ain’t bad.  Not a lot of good action out there today, but a couple small plays to keep my Monday interesting.

Year to Date:  23-32-2  (+11.67 units)

All lines and odds are from matchbook.com.  The home team is listed in all caps.

1 unit:  PADRES (CORREIA) over Rockies (Jimenez) +132

Trust me, I don’t like betting against Jimenez this season.  He’s been stellar and if this continues could have a Cy Young award in his near future.  But the Padres are hot.  And it’s not like Correia has been awful.  The over under is set at 6.5 which should tell you how much of a pitching duel this is expected to be.  I like the amount of value in a hot team as a home underdog in a close game.

1.09 units:  Cardinals (Garcia) over PHILLIES (BLANTON) -109

Speaking of pitchers playing out of their ass, where the hell did Jaime Garcia come from?  Dude has been pitching like an ace on a staff already headed by a couple of them.  Blanton has never been mistaken for an ace.  I think these two teams are very close talent wise most nights, but I’ll lean away from the Phillies tonight in Blanton’s first start off the DL.
